In Part 3 of My Crazy Pond Project series, I purchased and assembled my fountain, but I left off there because I needed some waders to complete the pond fountain installation. Armed with my information,
I purchased the Pro Line Green River Chest Waders from Dick’s Sporting Goods. They are quite durable and pretty good quality.
Of course, I researched before I made my purchase, and good thing I did! These waders run very small in size, which is noted in many customer reviews, so I knew going in that I had to order two sizes larger than my normal size. Ordering the larger size makes them fit better, and because I am relatively short, the extra length kept me very well protected.
Also of note, these waders are NOT attractive in any way, and they make me look like some kind of frog woman! Oh, the Horror! Therefore, no chuckling when you see me in the video!
I was able to get Hubs to help me with this shoot and he did a good job, but it was filmed in the wrong format (portrait as opposed to landscape). It was his first time using my camera therefore, you have my apologies.
As for the fountain, I want to see how it will aerate and move water. Some may say it’s a bit small for the size of the pond, but I wanted to start this project on the small side. I figure if and/or when the pump dies, it will be the perfect time to upgrade. The center spout is about 12.5 inches high, so it gets good height.
I’ll be back again with another chapter, updating you on the effectiveness of the dye and plans for the future. If this is your first time here, please check out Part I and Part 2. I have recently accepted the fact that this project is going to take some time, so there will be much more to share. I have a sinking feeling that I am going to have to drain this pond and really clean it out. It’s been around for about 20 years, and I read that after 10-15 years of an unlined “natural” pond with full sun exposure, they will eventually develop growth and necessitate a draining and cleaning. Not looking forward to that, but it will be well worth the effort.
There is still so much to do to get this pond back in shape, so I am in it for the long haul.
I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas about this project – dare to share in the comments!
Oh, one last bit. . .don’t forget to click the subscribe button in the upper right hand corner of the video, I would surely appreciate! Also, at the end of the video, you’ll get the bonus blooper reel. It was pretty funny for me, but I could be biased on the subject.
