Winter months where I live are extremely dry and it can cause havoc with my skin. Exfoliating is very important to maintaining healthy, glowing looking skin and allowing my moisturizers to do their job. The Exfolimate Face and Body Exfoliation Tool Set is a new skin care product made in Australia and I was offered the chance to try it for free in exchange for my honest opinion. Of course you know I’m here to share it all with you!
Disclosure: I received this product in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive financial compensation for this post and this review is 100% my own honest opinion, however, this post may contain affiliate links. See full disclosure here.
I’ve seen a lot of different beauty tools, but I’ve never seen anything like the Exfolimate. Apparently this is a new skin care product that you can use on your body and face to exfoliate your skin and leave it looking healthy and feeling soft.
In the Box: The Exfolimate comes with two tools: one small one for the face, and a larger one for the body. Inside the box there are also two straps and an instruction booklet. You can clearly see the tools in the box so you know exactly what you are getting. Honestly, at first look they remind me of miniature bench scrapers used for cooking and baking – but I think I was hungry at the time 🙂
Out of the Box: Attach the included straps to the Exfolimate tools and you are ready to go. No blister packaging to deal with which is a huge plus. Simply hold the tool at a 90 degree angle to your skin and start removing all of that dead weight!
For my Body: I jump in the shower (or you can do it while bathing) and cleanse first. While my skin is wet, I sweep it across my skin, being careful not to use too much pressure. I work it in an upwards motion, gently, but firmly gliding it along my skin, legs and arms especially.
For my Face: I cleanse first and after rinsing I leave my face wet. Again, holding the Exfolimate at a 90 degree angle, I use slightly less pressure and sweep it in an upwards fashion, being careful to stay away from my delicate eye area.
Results: After using the Exfolimate on my body, my lotion seems to apply slightly better and my skin feels softer. I have hard water which works closely with this dry winter weather in trying to undermine my skin. I have to reapply lotion and body butters constantly if I don’t exfoliate. I noticed after using the Exfolimate my skin stays moisturized much longer and I don’t experience dryness or that horrible winter itch syndrome.
I used the Exfolimate on my face as well. I did notice that my face felt softer and it seemed as if the tool did exfoliate my skin. I looked at the ‘blade’ before rinsing and I think I did see some dead skin, so maybe it is working. I would rather use this as opposed to using some of these products with microbeads – simply because I don’t know what these microbeads are made of and if they are even healthy for my skin.
The Exfolimate fits well in my hand and the straps can be attached to my wrist in the shower and I don’t have to worry about it falling to the floor. The straps also come in handy for hanging and drying the tool so they stay out of the way.
Would I recommend this tool? Overall, I would say yes, because it is great in the shower. As for my face, I think I have to use it a little while longer to make sure it’s something that I want to continue using. It’s just so new and different, it may take me a little more time getting acquainted with using it. On the plus side, it did not cause any stress or breakouts on my skin, and it is very easy to clean and store.
