When there’s a drink in my hand you can usually find a drinking straw present.  Probably the only beverage I ever drink without a straw is water. I’ve been Eco at Heart™ as much as possible and the town where I reside ranks highest in the area for recycling. Not only do I recycle, composting is part of my green plan too. Although, It bothers me that my plastic straws are adding to the ever growing landfills. What can I do? I absolutely LOVE drinking from straws and it seems that. . . 

Eco at Heart™ must have heard my plea! They sent me a set of five well crafted stainless steel drinking straws.  The eco-friendly version of my favorite drinking tool. I was excited to give them my opinion.

The straws arrived in recyclable packaging and also included a handy spiral brush for cleaning. I haven’t stopped using them since I opened the box, and I feel great about not throwing away tons of plastic straws in the future – yes, it is going to save me money too! I drink smoothies in the mornings and my regular plastic straws make them a chore to drink.  These stainless steel straws are perfect for thicker drinks. They are larger in diameter, 3/8 inches to be exact and they handle my thicker like a pro!

When consuming my drink of choice (Crystal Light Mojito) I always add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and I was worried that the lemon would react with the steel and cause a bad flavor. Nope! I can drink without any metallic taste.  I also use a mojito ice ball in my drink and as the straw leans up against the ice, it cools the straw and in turn the straw keeps my drink cold. You can also keep them in the freezer for extra cold drinks. One warning: I would not use these straws for hot drinks – even though I can’t think of a hot drink where I would use a straw. . .just a warning. 

Overall, these straws are a definite win for me and I will never buy another package of plastic straws again!
