Big Brother 16 (BB) is on, and to tell you the truth, I am not sure how I feel. I was of course excited for the start of the season, hoping that this season would bring us a more age diverse cast. Something a little better than last year. But alas, we are left with the same old scouted group of over medicated, tantrum throwing, needy and whiny under sexed cast, most of whom are looking for more than their share of 15 minutes of fame. I find myself oddly underwhelmed. I am hoping that will change quickly, because I need a reason to want to write. Anyhoo, back in the Hamster Cage. . .

I just want to get those of you who don’t follow the dedicated BB sites up to date on the latest from After Dark and Live Feeds. Maybe I will voice my first impressions of the house guests (HGS) at a later date.

As of Sunday’s episode, you should know that Paola and Donny were put on the block by Caleb, and Victoria and Brittany were nominated (nom’d) by Frankie. Victoria and Brittany won the first ever Battle of the Block (BotB) and Frankie was dethroned as HoH. Caleb remains HoH and we will find out who wins the Power of Veto (POV) on Wednesday.

In other news, America picked Joey as our first alliance member. I don’t know why, and I will admit that I did not vote. Had I voted it probably would have been for Donny. Joey then went on to have a house meeting to let everyone know that Caleb would be going around asking everyone who they want gone this week which left everyone looking at her sideways. Afterwards, she went to Zach and told him that she wanted Devin gone. I think Zach was playing along with Joey, because he is in an alliance of 8 with Devin. They are called the Bomb Squad (more on that in a minute).

Joey then thought that it would be a great idea to go and tell Devin to his face that she was going to vote him out. She also told him to vote her out as well. That I did not understand, because later she went and apologized to him, and they were then talking about working together and having each others backs. Ughh, exhausting!

Devin also had a tiff with Brittany over the sheets and lotion (don’t ask), and the fact that he was disrespected by Brittany on the day of his daughter’s birthday (I don’t know how she disrespected him. . .the facts elude me). It was a real juvenile argument which ended with Devin telling Brittany not to talk to him anymore, and her agreeing wholeheartedly.

I must also tell you about Caleb and his high school like crush on Amber, who does not really even acknowledge him in many ways.  Caleb has been going on and on about her and how she is the type of girl he can take home to his mother and.  He has been talking to the other guys in the house about her constantly.  

They had a really uncomfortable conversation last night that was cringe worthy.  He’s acting like a school boy who wants to tell a girl how much he likes her, and Amber walks around like she doesn’t have a clue. He has told the other guys in the house things like “I could put a ring on that”, “She’s the type of girl I can take home to meet the family”, “We only live an hour away from each other, so I could see her afterwards as well”, and on and on.  Kind of pathetic this early in the game.  Let it marinate a bit Caleb, yeesh!

Alliances:
Here are the alliances as I understand them to date.
The Double D’s, or Devin & Donny (now defunct in Devin’s mind). This knucklehead Devin is so paranoid and he’s playing fast and reckless. He is now trying to get out of his alliance with Donny in favor of the next alliance which is

The Bomb Squad. This is a megagigantic alliance of eight which includes Frankie, Zach, Cody, Caleb, Devin, Derrick, Christine and Amber. Devin was the one who invited Christine and Amber into the alliance without speaking to the rest of his alliance. . .see what I mean about Devin?

El Quatro was an all girls alliance for all of 5 minutes. The first four girls in the house were talked into this by Paola, but I believe Joey has destroyed this alliance.

Then there are some three and four person alliances, and final two deals running rampant in the house. Of note, Zach, Cody and Derrick are together. Christine and Nicole are quite friendly. Frankie and Victoria “clicked” immediately, but Frankie put her on the block and later apologized (I don’t know what his reasoning was for doing that).

It seems the biggest secret, and probably most viable final two deal is between Frankie and Zach. Go figure. I thought that both of these guys were going to be very annoying for me personally, but Zach actually has a good grasp on the game and Frankie is shaping up to be a very good social player. He reminds me of Andy from last season, but not as much of a snake, at least not yet. I think Zach is trying to play a role similar to Dr Wil. Yes he is a bit of a meathead, but he and Frankie could work this to the end if they remain level-headed. Who would suspect the two of them to work together, which is exactly what they are planning.

Overall, After Dark (BBAD) has been a bit boring, but I will continue to churn this out. I’m sure (more like I’m hopeful) that this season will start to find its footing.  Care to share your thoughts?  What do you think of Big Brother 16 so far?
