As with everything that is “good for us”, there has been recent news that coconut EVERYTHING may not be as good for us as we once thought. Coconut oil used for cooking is one of the recent culprits due to its saturated fat content. However, I know of a coconut oil that IS good for us – GoPure Fractionated Coconut Oil!
I received this product free in exchange for an honest review.
See full disclosure below.
Now that I have found my way into the craft of making my own scrubs, rubs and creams, I found that I like to use fractionated coconut oil as my carrier oil of choice. It has a great shelf life and is easier to use than the “must-melt-vegetable-shortening-style” traditional coconut oil. For this review, I tried something different so. . .Let’s dig in!
GoPure Fractionated Coconut Oil Review
How did it arrive? I received my bottle swaddled in plastic to protect from spilling during shipping. As you see, the sticker tells me this oil does indeed have a looooong shelf life!
After removing the plastic I see they have graced this bottle with a handy flip-top cap. This makes for easy dispensing when I need just a small amount or more accurate application.
What’s in the bottle? The label says the oil is completely odorless, but my brain tells my nose that there is the slightest, very faint hint of coconut – go figure. As with every oil – this oil is. . .well. . .oily, but it doesn’t feel slimy.
What are some of the uses? Wanting to try something different with this oil, I started using it as a moisturizer for my hands, feet and body. It leaves my skin feeling really soft and supple – straight from the bottle. Having hard water, my moisturizer needs to be hard working, and this kept my skin noticeably moisturized for about 24 hours.
You want More? Research shows – well. . .my research 🙂 – shows that this oil is also great for hair, so I thought “why not”? It gives my hair softness and a nice sheen without a greasy look or feel. I haven’t been using it long, so it’s going to take some time to get further results.
Of course, I will continue to use this oil in my scrubs, rubs and creams. I purchased some body butter that I stopped using, because I found it a little too stiff and hard to apply. I whipped it together with a little fractionated coconut oil and it loosened up nicely. Now that body butter smooths on my body like butta!
Final thoughts? Simply put, GoPure Fractionated Coconut Oil is great. I have found many uses for it, and I don’t have to rush to use it all up because of the extended shelf life. It’s a keeper! Just in case you didn’t know, fractionated coconut oil is for external use only so don’t use it for cooking! 🙂
