Rarely do I sleep when I travel, but when I do, I want a great pillow that travels well and doesn’t take up too much precious space in my carry-on. The AirComfy Travel Pillow definitely fits the basic criteria, but does this pillow travel like a seasoned pro?
The AirComfy Travel Pillow is a small, portable, inflatable travel pillow that comes in its own little pouch. Once the pillow is removed from the pouch, simply turn the valve and the pillow will instantly inflate. You can even adjust the amount of air to your liking.
It has a strap on the back which slips over the head rest of the chair that helps to keep the pillow locked in place. When I slipped the pillow over the back of a regular chair, the shape reminded me of a bra. It’s actually what Air Comfy calls “side wings” which help to keep your head in place and prevent rolling and tilting.
We all know what a stiff neck feels like – well, this pillow wants to prevent that from happening. The center is lower than the sides and lends support to the neck.
AirComfy Travel Pillow Review
I like that the pillow comes with a “packsack” and a carabiner style hook which is convenient for attaching to your luggage. It does inflate easily and is very easy to adjust the amount of air. I keep it slightly under inflated when I use it as a regular pillow, because it feels slightly uncomfortable under my head when it is fully inflated.
The AirComfy Travel Pillow can be cleaned by simply wiping it with a damp cloth. It does clean up well – that is if you use the right cloth! Do not use any material that leaves lint. As you may know, I have 3 dogs (my SnackPack), so hair is everywhere and nothing short of a tape lint remover really gets rid of it all. i do wish it was machine or hand washable, more so for sanitary issues.
Not having the opportunity to fly with this pillow, I used it in the car. I did have to recline my seat to make the pillow feel more comfortable.
The above is not to say that this pillow is not a good buy. In fact I found a better use for it rather than a travel pillow. As the tag suggested, I used it as lumbar support. I do a lot of typing, so my sitting position is extremely important and this pillow proved to be a champ in supporting my delicate lower back.
Almost fully inflated, it made me feel like I was sitting upright, with good posture, and my body did not get fatigued at all during my 6-8 hour transcription sessions. This for me was a huge bonus, as I am always using anything I can find for support while sitting at the desk.
Deflating and storing is simple – open the valve, press flat and roll the pillow and store it back in the pack – done!
All in all, the AirComfy Travel Pillow is a good deal, and would make a great gift for the commuter or frequent flyer in your life. If you are looking for great lumbar support then this pillow is definitely a great solution.
