Surpahs Dual-S Body Fat Scale Review

The Surpahs Dual-S Body Fat Scale I received is white and it arrived with 4-AAA batteries (thank you) ready to install. I don’t know about you, but most companies get an automatic brownie point for including batteries so that I may start using my item right away. The profile is just under an inch from back to front and less than a foot in width which is a relatively small footprint. It has four metal strips on the face which prove to be important upon reading the instructions, but I’ll get to that in a bit. A quick 3-5 minute read of the instructions will have you setting up the scale in no time. The formulas for some of the measurements this scale provides are slightly confusing, but with a little research I figured out some of it here.

Instructions are clear and to the point. Surpahs and I recommend that you set up your profile before using the scale. It’s really easy to do – just choose your profile number, enter your height, age and gender, and the scale does the rest. You’ll have a record of your first weigh-in if you set up your profile before stepping on the scale for the first time.

Using the Dual-S Body Fat Scale will enable you to see your body mass index (BMI), water, K-calories, muscle and bone mass. Admittedly, even though I am a bit of a tech junkie, I was not aware of the vast change in scale technology and how much information we can collect and use in the pursuit of weight loss. Fascinating.

How does it work? The instructions reveal that the Dual-S Body Fat Scale operates by emitting very low electrical pulses through the feet, which means you have to prep before you step. With slightly damp feet, simply step on the scale and remain in place. Your current weight will start to flash and then you will see all of your measurements cycle through twice, and the readout is very easy to see on the blue LED backlit screen with very large numbers. After the second cycle the scale automatically shuts off. This scale is easy to use and gives quick results. Up to four different profiles can be created so this is a good scale for the family.

My-ology? As with any scale, fluctuations in weight will happen from scale to scale, day to day, and with any other slight shift of the wind. Every scale I have ever owned ALWAYS weigh lower than my doctor’s scale (it’s a conspiracy). Granted, I usually have on more clothes along with my shoes and 10 pounds of jewelry, etc, but it is usually a significant difference! Of course, I have to account for this discrepancy when stepping on my scale at home.

When weighing myself twice in a row on this particular scale, leaning forward once and slightly leaning back the second time, my weight was different by about 2 pounds. Oddly enough, all of the other readings stayed the same. Standing straight and very still seems to be the way to go.
