I want to take just a moment of your time and introduce you to the three most important creatures in my life – My Snack Pack. I named them The Snack Pack for two reasons.
- First, they love snacks! Frozen broccoli, banana, apple, milk bones, pupperoni, and especially lettuce! I should also include rocks, sticks, leaves, dirt, grass, but that’s a story for another day. One of them will even walk over to where I keep the treat jars and suggest to me that it is time for a snack.
- Second, once the dogs were trained, it became quicker to get all three of them to respond with the group name as opposed to calling them each individually. Hey, it makes my life a little easier.
And now, Meet The Snack Pack!
Butters is a Golden Retriever and he is the oldest. His mother was coincidentally named Jackie, so once I learned that news, bringing him home was no longer a question. . .it was a done deal. He is very smart and has an arsenal of tricks he can do, but it has to be worth his time and effort to perform. This is the one who will tell me that it is treat time. His nicknames include Butters Beaumont, B-Man, Butreman (sounds french), Buttawhats, and his Spanish name is Mantequilla. He answers to them all.
River is a Gordon Setter and she is the diva of the house – and the middle pup. This dog is truly special, but she has issues indeed! Because of her I have fallen in love with the breed, and I would have a Gordon in my life at anytime. She sings (like me), and she will even “talk” to you if she is in need of anything – and her demands must be answered immediately! Her nicknames include Riv-latina, Riv-Riv, Girlie, and quite frankly. . .Bitch – because she is one and she can be one! Her Spanish name is Rio. She answers when she deems it necessary.
