Looking for a solution to bring the air in and keep the bugs out without the high cost of adding a traditional screen door? Well, iGotTech has the answer.

I’ve tried one of these screens in the past, you know, the one As Seen On TV? This gave me a bit of a head start when it came to installation of the iGotTech Magnetic Screen Door.

I was offered the chance to try this in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion and review. Judging iGotTech’s version of this screen against the other “popular” brand, I was immediately impressed with the full length of velcro strips running down the entire length of both sides and the top. The other brand simply had a few velcro pieces to attach down the sides and across the top. I also noticed that the magnets were enclosed in the center seam making it virtually impossible for them to fall off.

My main purpose for wanting a screen curtain was to be able to use it as a “doggie door” for the Snack Pack. They can be a bit over zealous when it comes to getting in and out of the screen door and they pretty much destroyed the first one I installed. It was pretty flimsy.

It’s Summer now, but there are days when I can turn off the AC and open the doors for a little fresh air. Last year before winter, the Snack Pack managed to create a hole in my traditional screen door; a hole big enough for all three of them to use as a doggy door of sorts, and I never managed to get it fixed before this summer. I had to find a quick and workable solution that included a bonus doggie door. I was going to review the other brand, but I am glad I waited for this one.

The directions are easy to follow. There is also a YouTube video you can watch before installation.  Below, you can see how the Snack Pack maneuvers through the screen. Jelly shows you how overzealous she is, but the velcro usually does not detach from the sides.

I have a sliding glass door, so I opened the screen door almost all the way, and attached the mesh curtain to one side of the screen door frame, and the other side to the frame of the sliding glass door. Before I installed the screen, I wiped down the entire area of the door frame with alcohol where the adhesive strips would be attached, just to make sure the adhesive would stick.  This, however, is not a part of the directions, but is a helpful step. you can click here to see the video on installation of the magnetic screen door.

Overall, it has been holding up great!  I am currently on vacation from my doggy doorman post, because the Snack Pack can travel freely in and out. It closes completely about 95% of the time, but I think the 5% is due to user error – not me. . .the Snack Pack of course! It does a good job keeping the bugs out as well.

One thing I must mention. It is best to enter and exit through the center of the panels to make sure that it closes correctly. This most likely would not be a problem if it is only used by humans. . .and not over zealous puppies.

My oldest and biggest dog Butters is not really aware of just how much space his body actually takes up and he can be a bit clumsy at times. I had to make some adjustments simply by fastening the velcro closer to the center of the door. After about 5 minutes of training the Snack Pack on the proper use of the screen, they had it down to a science. They are love, love, loving their new found freedom.
