Top 3 Reasons to Use an Expanding Expandable Hose
During the warmer months of the year, I find myself once again with cars to wash, plants to water and one particular pup who prefers to drink water exclusively outdoors during daylight hours. I need a hose nearby and at the ready for such occasions. I’ve been wanting to try one of these expanding expandable hoses for sometime now, passing them in the stores, always saying I should, but never purchasing. Fortunately Quality Source Products provided one for free in exchange for my two cents.
Tired of traditional heavy and bulky hoses I was more than happy to try one. You see, currently I’m working with 250 feet of traditional hose WITHOUT A HOSE REEL! – Oh there’s just so much Hose! However, it’s necessary to cover the distances I need to cover around the grounds. Even with the water drained, it’s a pain in the you-know-what to drag it around and coil it back up again. .uugh! Did I mention the kinking. . .
Apologies for the rant – Now let’s move on to the review.
The Expanding Expandable Hose by Quality Source Products comes in a plastic bag inside of a cardboard box. at 100 feet long and completely empty, the hose makes a nice small bundle which is VERY manageable. It also includes a 7 in 1 sprayer head with connectors on each end.
Now for the test. I connected the house to my outdoor faucet and turned on the water. The connection seemed tight enough and no water leaked from the faucet.
Upon first looks, it didn’t seem that I would get an aggressive flow of water through this hose, but it ran through all of the sprayer settings with a good flow. Looking at the hose, one would think the material would allow water to soak through, but it remains dry while in use.
I noticed a slight expansion of the hose with the water turned on and flowing, however, once I turned off the water, I really noticed the hose shrinking back to the original size – now that is COOL! If I can get a few of these and connect them, I could get 250 feet and then some. During the winter months this hose will be easy to store – oh joy!
I took some video of the hose in use so you can see it for yourself
100 feet of empty hose can fit in one hand – and I have tiny hands
The water pressure through the sprayer is acceptable and surpasses expectations
Hose does not kink or twist.
With the good comes the bad. I have to note that the sprayer and connections feel like “cheapish” plastic and I’m not sure they will last. The hose material, although sturdy, may not be durable enough to withstand my abuse – oh, and the terrain. My hose has to glide over rocks, wood, and wire fences to get where It needs to be, and I need a hose that is going to do battle.
My experience may be different from others, but if you are interested in purchasing this hose, I will leave my Amazon affiliate link below for your shopping convenience. Sure hope your spring is going great – now let’s get ready for summer!
