Jaxs-Tip Tuesday Washing Fruits and Vegetables with Baking Soda
Jaxs-Tip Tuesday – Wax On, Wax Off: Washing Fruits and Vegetables with Baking Soda
The Problem – Eating fresh fruits and veggies is very important to maintaining good health, but when buying produce from the grocery store, you’re bound to find a good coating of wax which needs to be removed before eating. There are all kinds of products on the market that claim to remove this wax, but there has to be an easier, more cost effective way.
The Method – Place the baking soda inside of the shaker. Simply sprinkle some baking soda onto the dry produce and rub the entire surface for about 30 seconds – longer for waxier coatings. Now rinse! The wax disappears as you rinse, and your fruit and vegetables will be squeaky clean – you’ll feel it.
Washing fruits and vegetables with baking soda is a great natural way to get the waxy coating removed and very cost effective too! Leaving the shaker near your sink is just convenient.
